  • Using Mac O/S 9.01, with software running from Linux server/samba share, the program freezes everytime!! If I put the folder on my desktop, runs fine. Any ideas are appreciated!!!!

  • Most likely, it is a problem of permissions. ReportWriter needs to be able to read-write the Comments and Report Data files.

  • Using RW in a PC environment during second term. When entering PE (only) the program reverts to term 1 when going to the next student. It does this only for PE, but it is doing it in every school in the district.

  • Hi Gary,
A colleague is trying to install 3.53 on her new Vista laptop. It appears to install (going through the golden menu, but the folder is empty—no icons, nothing. Although ReportWriter is listed on the start menu, nothing happens when she selects it. We verified that there isn’t a problem with the disk. Is there a compatibility problem with Vista? Is there a work around for installation? Thanks,

  • I just opened ReportWriter for the first time this term only to find that all of the choices for the Fine Arts outcomes have disappeared. Any suggestions on how to get them back? I can copy/paste from the government document for now but I'd really rather not have to repeat the process next year.

  • We have a single teacher at our Alternative School using ReportWriter in a Grade 6-8 environment. Up to now, the grade 8 Language Arts outcomes have to be manually processed. I understand that an update will correct this.

My question is... has this been addressed in the 3.6 upgrade?

  • Hi Bob,
If I understand you correctly, your Grade 8 teacher is manually putting the outcomes in for Grade 8. There are no plans for the development of Grade 8 outcomes in a future ReportWriter version. If your teacher wants to continue using his/her version or upgrade, they will need to do as they have done until now.
    Thanks

  • Can you tell me please how we might input the new Math IRP outcomes into Reportwriter 3.6? Do you have this data file for import?
    Thanks in advance. Cheers!

  • As far as I knew, ReportWriter 3.6 was up-to-date with all the latest IRP's. If you wanted to create new ILO's you would have to edit them from within ReportWriter. We cannot import a set of ILO's at this time.

  • Using RW French version 3.6.
No drop down menus for Work Habits, Effort, and Attitude for Grade 3, but they print with a blank. They're there for Grade 4.

Also, when duplicating from template, English L.A. Writing outcomes did not all transfer to student reports.

  • Hi Gary

I have an come across an issue on the new version of RW 3.6 that I have seen on previous versions. The app does not allow the user to keep font size 9 for their comments. The font will display as 9 but as soon as the cell is unselected the font goes to a size 8. This issue is only found using this size 9 font. Found in Mac env. OSX and OS9. I have seen the issue and it happens every time. Users want to use this font size as it works best for them...

  • Can we switch the DB to multi-user mode. We have the program installed on a server, and have all teachers pointing to the exe via a mapped drive. Permissions are set. everything works great, one teacher at a time. Can this program be used in multi-user mode and if so how?

    Thanks for your timely reply.

  • The Database version of the program is not supported at this time. We are only supporting the stand-alone version of ReportWriter.

  • I have fllled out the entire term1 in Version 3.54 before realizing it needs to be done in Ver3.60. I have tried to export from 3.54 but ver 3.60 imports in a totally different field order. Ordering the fields appears to be far more difficult then it needs to be.

What is the easiest way to carry at least the basic data from one over to the other?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:10 AM

  • Hans, redo the export in RW1 format and then it should import correctly into 3.6.

  • Hi,

What are the system requirements for RW 3.7? I tried to install it on my laptop (P3, 1Ghz, 512 MB RAM) running XP Home, and it wouldn't work. The disk couldn't even be read.

  • Lisa,
Some of the installer CD's that were shipped had a faulty Windows installer. If you email me gary_toews@sd34.bc.ca and let me know what version you purchased I can send you a link to download the installer for Windows.

  • Hi Gary,

I sent you an email, but haven't heard back from you regarding a link for RW 3.7. I was wondering if you got my email.

    Thanks,
    Lisa

  • Hi there,
Do you know if ReportWriter runs on a Linux system? I'm working off an Asus Netbook...
